Claiming Ownership of Your Server: The Complete Guide

An automatic mechanism, not a public button

Contrary to what you might expect, there's no freely accessible "Claim this server" button on a server listing. The system only activates in one specific case: when a server is added by someone who isn't an admin on it.

The case involved: added by a non-admin

If a regular member (without admin rights) adds a server to DiscordInvites, the listing is created but flagged as "added by a non-admin." The real Discord owner hasn't validated anything yet.

The bot notifies the real owner

If the DiscordInvites bot is present on the server, it can identify the real Discord owner and send them a private message (DM) containing a unique claim link, valid for 14 days.

By clicking the link received via DM (while logged in with their Discord account), the owner has two choices: claim the listing to take full control, or reject it if they don't want their server listed.

Why it works this way

This system protects owners: nobody can take over your server simply by requesting it from the site. Only the one-time link sent by the bot to the real Discord owner can confirm the takeover — without that link, there's no way to claim anything.

If you don't receive a DM

The bot needs to be present on the server to identify the owner. If it isn't, or if the link has expired, contact support for manual handling.
